FRANKLIN FIRST UNITED METHODIST MISSION OPPORTUNITIES

Here at 415, we believe we are constantly called to participate in God’s mission for our world. We pray that we will all be actively seeking ways God calls us each day. We, as a youth group, do this in many ways. We spend much of our time on Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, and Wednesday nights searching Scripture and praying over service in the world. We also have opportunities throughout the year as well as week long trips in the summer to be in service throughout the United States and the world. Below you will see some regularly offered mission opportunities, and you can click the link to the left to read more about our summer mission trips.
.
We also have youth serve with the greater congregation in a number of ways. Check out the FFUMC site here┬áto find out more! Our youth enjoy serving regularly through the nursery, children’s Sunday School, Room in the Inn, 61st Avenue, the Giving Garden & more!

ROBERT CHAMBERS MISSION TRIP FUND

.
Robert Chambers believed short-term mission trips were extremely important in helping young people develop as disciples of Jesus by living out their faith through serving others. He felt the Church should do everything it could to provide quality mission experiences that challenged and equipped youth for a life of service. Robert believed that no youth should ever miss out on experiencing a short-term mission trip because he or she lacked the finances to pay the trip fee and his dream was for Franklin First UMC to provide enough funding to meet any financial needs of any youth seeking to go on a mission trip.
.
Robert saw the Chili Cook-Off and Silent Auction as a way to make this dream become a reality. In 2011, Robert volunteered to lead a team of parents and youth to help grow the event. Under his leadership, the event raised nearly $40,000 in two years.
.
Robert Chambers passed away in 2014. In 2015, the leadership voted to begin donating 10% of all proceeds from the fundraiser towards the Robert Chambers Memorial Mission Trip Fund. These funds are designated to support youth and families who need help to pay the fee for a youth mission trip. In the first year, three youth received needed funds to attend mission trips to Reynosa, Mexico and Washington, DC.
